New year

NEW YEAR’S DAY

In England people celebrate New Year’s Day because it is the first day of the New Year.
This day has always been celebrated in a quiet way because the night of 31st December, New Year’s Eve, is usually the night when people have parties until the early hours of the morning.
Traditionally families get together al lunch time and have a large meal. This includes toast turkey, roast potatoes and parsnips, fresh boiled vegetables, gravy which is a sauce made of the juices from the turkey, and various other sauces.
Families will talk about how they welcomed in the New Year.
In the afternoon, quite probably, the men will sit around the table and play cards while drinking Scotch whiskey and the women will chat over coffee. The children will most likely play with their toys from Father Christmas.

In classroom

One day we are going to talk about New Year’s Day. We will start with different questions about this day. For example we can ask:
Can anyone tell us when we celebrate this?
Do your grandparents come for lunch on this day?
Do you remember what kind of food you eat?
Later we can tell a fairy tale about New Year’s Day and finally do a perform a play.

MR. TWIT

MR. TWIT GOES TO THE HAIRDRESSER

MR. TWIT GOES TO THE HAIRDRESSER

MR. TWIT GOES TO THE HAIRDRESSER

One morning Mr. Twit woke up with all his hairy-face full of pieces of food from the night before. He had had a tuna salad with bread for dinner so he had some bread and tuna chunks all over his face. Mrs Twit woke up too and said: you are so dirty and smelly! Go and wash your hairy-face! Mr Twit listened to his ugly wife and went to the bathroom to wash himself but the food was already really hard so he couldn’t remove the pieces of bread and tuna from his hair.
Mr. Twit came out of the bathroom and said to Ms Twit: darling! I can’t wash my face properly because all the food is already stuck to my hair so I think I should go to the hairdresser.
Mrs Twit answered him: oh dear! That’s a really good idea!
Mr Twit got dressed had breakfast and went to town to find a place to get his hair cut. After a while he found a small old place with a big advertisement on the door that said: We cut your hair for less than a beer! Mr Twit saw through the window an ugly man and decided to go inside the hairdresser. He was sure this man was a good hairdresser because he was old and so he had a lot of experience cutting hair.
Mr Jimmy, the hairdresser told Mr Twit to take a seat and he quickly started his job. He suddenly realized that he wasn’t able to cut Mr Twit’s hair with a normal pair of scissors because his hair was so dirty and a sticky that it was very difficult to cut hard.
Jimmy went to the storeroom to get an electric saw started to cut Mr Twit’s hair. At the beginning Mr Twit was a little bit scared but at the end he was really happy with Jimmy’s work.
From that day Mr Twit decided not to have long hair anymore and he promised his wife he would go once per week to the hairdresser.

Foreign Language learning for young and very young children

It's very important for children to start learning a new language from when they are very young.
I think it's useful to introduce a new language through games, songs, flash-cards... which are different atractive ways to learn. These resources should be more interesting and fun for children so they can help to increase their motivation.

When the children start learning a new lenguage in infant education, they only learn with oral activities because they don't can't write yet. This is why it's important to encourage them to participate in the class and to make them feel self confident with themselves.

From my point of view I think it'sessential to introduce a new language in infant education because when children start primary school they will already have a basic knowledge of this new language.

We hace to be aware of the different learning periods, bacause for some children it will be easier and for other children it will be more difficult.

I think it is very interesting to learn english in different subjects, for example in infant education children could have arts or P.E in english so they can learn new vocabulary in a different language.

From my personal experience I think that if my teachers had introduced english infant education maybe nowadays I would not have so many problems speaking or writing in english.

ICT ARE IMPORTANT PART OF MODERN TEACHING

ICT ARE IMPORTANT PART OF MODERN TEACHING

I believe in the use of ICT in education but I don’t think that they can be the only
resource for the teacher.
New technologies are forcing us to be continually changing, because there is always
something new to learn.
From my point of view, ICT are a new challenge for everyone and we have to get used
to them.
Since new technologies first appeared, schools have had to incorporate them in to their teaching process.

First of all I would like to explain the main characteristics of ICT ( Information and Communication Technology) and its use in education.
ICT allow teachers to create different materials to use with their students, and the same time the learning process can be more fun by using them in class because children can playand learn at the same time.
The purpose of ICT in education is generally to familiarise students with the use and workings of computers, and related social and ethical issues.

Moreover, it is something new for children and they have to be prepared for this change and they have to be able to face any problem they have in their lives.
Since they will have to live and work with ICT,the earlier they start getting used to them, the faster they will learn how to use them.

In a conclusion I want to say that it is very important to introduce ICT in education, but we shoud not forget other traditional ways.

Schools are constantly suffering changes, but we can’t forget its main role: for example enjoying fairy tales, singing songs, doing artistic works, playing... all these things can not be replaced by new technologies.
